We all run our lives by calendars: school calendars, sports calendars, work calendars, and of course, a yearly calendar. The liturgical calendar is a uniqely Christian orientation to time that, over the course of a year, tells the Christian story. It begins with the season of Advent in early December, brings us to Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost. This calendar grounds us in that story of love and redemption, reminds us of our place in it, and gives shape to our living.
